The Challenge: Dirty, Wet Plastic Waste
Plastic film and rigid scrap are often contaminated with dirt, oil, food residue, or moisture when they arrive at the recycling facility. Traditional dry granulators cannot handle this type of material directly — attempting to do so results in poor-quality pellets and clogged filters.
PANDA MACHINERY's all-in-one wet granulator solves this problem by integrating the washing, drying, and pelletizing steps into a single continuous process. The result: clean, high-quality pellets from dirty input material, with significantly reduced labor and floor space requirements.
♻️ Our wet granulator can process dirty, moisture-laden film and rigid plastic directly — no separate washing line required for most applications.
Four-Step Process Overview
Washing
Dirty plastic enters the washing stage first. Water is used to remove dirt, dust, and surface contaminants from the material. For relatively clean industrial offcuts, this step can be bypassed entirely — the machine is flexible to the condition of your input material.
Feeding
After washing (or directly, if the material is clean), the plastic is fed into the extruder either by conveyor belt or manually. The hopper is designed to prevent bridging and ensure consistent feed rate.
Squeezing & Drying
The heart of our technology: the extruder screw uses physical friction and compression to generate heat and remove moisture from the plastic. No external heating is required. The material is plasticized through friction alone, and moisture is expelled through a venting zone. This eliminates the need for a separate dryer.
Extrusion & Pelletizing
The molten plastic is extruded through a die head, then cut into uniform pellets by a rotating blade. The pellets are cooled by air or water (depending on material type) and collected. An optional screen changer (filter) can be installed to remove remaining solid impurities from the melt.
Key Advantages
- Integrated process: Washing, drying, and pelletizing in one machine — saves floor space and labor.
- No pre-drying required: The machine handles moisture through its friction-based process.
- High output quality: Pellets are uniform, with no bubbles or black spots.
- Optional filtration: Screen changer removes contaminants for high-end applications.
- Energy efficient: No external heating means lower power consumption per ton of output.
When to Choose a Wet Granulator
Consider a wet granulator if your input material includes:
- Post-consumer film with dirt or food residue
- Agricultural mulch film (often sandy or muddy)
- Used woven bags or cement sacks
- Any material that cannot be effectively cleaned by air separation alone
